Hosting and server logs
The Vault is hosted by Netlify, Inc. When you visit a page, your browser sends technical data that the hosting servers need to deliver it. This can include your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and operating system, and the referring page.
This data is used to deliver the site and keep it secure, which is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not use it to identify you or combine it with other data. Netlify may process it in the USA, and this hosting relationship is covered by a data processing agreement.
Fonts and images
The Geist, Geist Mono and Geist Serif fonts, speaker photos and video thumbnails are all served from this site. Viewing them sends no data to Google Fonts, YouTube or any other third party.
YouTube videos
Talks are hosted on YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. A talk page shows a local thumbnail, and nothing connects to YouTube just by opening the page.
If you allow videos in the cookie banner and press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com. Your IP address and technical data then go to Google, and Google may store cookies or similar data on your device and link your viewing to your Google account if you are signed in. Google may process this data in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG. If you decline, nothing is loaded here, and the play button opens the video on youtube.com in a new tab, where Google's own terms apply. See the Google privacy policy.
Cookies and local storage
The Vault sets no cookies of its own. It stores two small items in your browser, which never leave your device:
- vault-consent (local storage) remembers your YouTube choice until you change it or clear your browser data.
- vault-names-scroll (session storage) keeps the speaker list in place between pages and is deleted when you close the tab.
Both are strictly necessary for features you use, so they do not need consent under § 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG.
You can change your choice at any time, with effect for the future, using the Cookies button in the bottom corner of every page or the button below. If you withdraw consent, any video playing here stops.
Links to other sites
Links to YouTube, LinkedIn and hatchconference.com are plain links. Those sites only receive your data if you open them, and their own privacy policies then apply.
Speakers and recordings
The Vault publishes speakers' names, job titles, bios, photos and LinkedIn links, and recordings of their talks, as part of documenting the conference. Attendees may appear incidentally in recordings. If you would like something changed or removed, email team@hatchconference.com.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You also have the right to data portability, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, email team@hatchconference.com.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Friedrichstr. 219, 10969 Berlin, Germany (datenschutz-berlin.de).
Changes
We update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
